Great oportunity for all MBP student to vist the Noho Marae, Umupuia, Maraetai


Programme for staff and students, Unitec

Tuesday 14   March  8.30am
Assemble at Building One, Unitec
 with drink, lunch, bedding, toiletry and gear.
Sign Health and Safety forms and get on bus.
9am Depart to Umupuia promptly
10.00 Arrive, collect gear and put in convenient place near entry
10.10ish  Karanga and start of powhiri   Enter marae if wet, or outside more probably
Whaikorero Alan Titchener,
Waiata Ko Wairaka tenei (3 verses)  and hongi/haruru.
11.00 Cup of tea in wharakai
11.30 Whare tupuna for briefing about marae and Ngai Tai, and protocols of the marae James Brown if available; or immediately to whakawhenaungatanga
12.00  Whakawhenuangatanga.. Introduction for all All
1.00 Briefing in groups outside on the lawn over lunch: Lecturers
2.00 Break out sessions for Year 3, and year 1 Interior Design, and walk to Regional Park for Year 1 and Masters Or work with staff.
4.00 Return and get together for review of day and key issues and learning
4.30 Swim/relax
6.00 Dinner:  Spit Roast
7pm  Presentations in whare kai:  to be discussed
8.30 Marae and further talk: the role of culture and design inspiration  J

Wednesday  15 March
7.30 Karakia and Breakfast
8.30  Tidy up.. All bags assembled
9.00 Break out session for some groups. Botany visit to bush area or further work with staff.
10.15 Assemble and review of learnings.
10. 45am Poroporoake
11.00 and Depart for Unitec.
