Dr Lee Beattie Deputy Head – Urban Planning School
of Architecture and Planning University of Auckland, Lee is an urban planner
with 21 years' professional experience.
He has qualifications in urban planning and design, and environmental
science. Lee is currently deputy head of
the School of Architecture and Planning where he is head of the urban planning
programme. He specialises in urban planning
policy development and implementation, growth management and urban design
research, professional practitioner training and providing Environment Court
evidence. Lee's research interests include urban planning policy development,
implementation and evaluation and urban design issues. He is currently involved in a number of
research projects considering urban growth management and urban design
implementation issues in a range of Pacific Rim (Australasian and North
American) new world cities.
Euen MacKeller, Principal, Jasmax, Euan has been a
Principal at Jasmax since 2004, he leads a skilled design team who specialise
in the health and education sector. Euan’s substantial base of international
experience covers London, Portugal, Dubai and South Africa; yet since joining
Jasmax in 1996, New Zealand is now where Euan has built his largest and most
accomplished body of credits. Together with his highly skilled team, Euan has
the invaluable ability to overcome inherent complexities within projects, most
recently exhibited in the CDHB Burwood Health Campus.
His aptitude for design and
his natural communication skills lead him to take an active part in management
across the company. He actively fosters emerging design talent, plays a pivotal
role in client interaction and engages with the wider architecture industry.
Euan’s successfully
delivered projects are a testament to his ability as a design director. These
include various prominent health and education projects, including the 4 stages
of development for Howick Baptist aged care facilities, Alan MacDiarmid Building
at the University of Victoria, Wellington, and several master-planning and
design projects at North Shore Hospital.
Clare Chapman editor of Landscape New Zealand. After completing a Bachelor
of Arts at the University of Auckland in Art History, Clare went on to study
editing and publishing at post graduate level at the University of Melbourne.
Prior to starting with AGM Publishing, Clare worked across New Zealand and
Australia as a journalist and editor, primarily for APN and Fairfax Media.
Clare also regularly contributes to Houses, Urbis and Architecture NZ
magazines.
Kate Healy, Chief Operating Officer Ngāti Whātua
Ōrākei Whai Rawa Limited, Kate has worked as a lawyer in both New Zealand, as a
partner at Minter Ellison Rudd Watts, and Australia, focusing on commercial property
and property finance and is passionate about the property industry. Kate has a Masters of Law specializing in
construction from University of Melbourne.
Phil Wihongi Landscape Architect/Planner, Raukawa
Charitable Trust. Phil is a graduate of the Unitec ( Bachelor of Landscape Architecture)
Auckland University (Master of Planning). He was a landscape architect/planner
at Boffa Miskell before joining the Raukawa Charitable Trust. Phil is a member
of Nga Aho, a network of Maori design professionals. Phil was part of the team
writing the Te Aranga Maori Cultural Landscape Strategy (Te Aranga).
David Irwin,
founding director Isthmus Group. David is a founding Director of Isthmus with
25 years experience in the field of landscape architecture and urban design.
David has experience across a wide range of projects throughout New Zealand
including large-scale urban developments such as town centres, coastal edges,
parks and reserves and commercial and residential land development. He
specialises in providing design leadership in complex project teams with an
emphasis on designed solutions. David has strong design, communication and
project management skills. He has won numerous NZILA awards and frequently
speaks and lectures on design related topics. David is a Fellow of the NZILA.
Associate Professor Sarah Treadwell, Architecture
& Planning University of Auckland. Sarah’s research investigates the
representation of architecture in colonial and contemporary images. Motels,
gender and volcanic conditions of ground are also subjects of interest. Sarah has
published in various books and journals including Architectural Theory Review,
Architectural Design, Space and Culture and Interstices. Her book Revisiting Rangiatea was the outcome
of participation in the Gordon H Brown Lecture Series in 2008.
Lisa Mein Principal Urban Design Boffa Miskell.
Lisa has worked as an urban designer and
planner in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Ireland since 1994. Lisa’s
experience spans a range of areas including a particular emphasis on designing
and facilitating innovative consultation and community participation processes,
master planning, town centre regeneration strategies, urban design, design
guidance, and conservation and heritage planning.
Associate Professor Grant Duncan, School of People,
Environment and Planning Massy University. Grant Duncan completed a PhD at the University of Auckland, and has
worked at Massey University's Albany campus (Auckland) since 1993. He teaches
in the politics program, primarily in the areas of public policy and political
theory. His research interests concern political subjectivities, and he is an
active commentator on public affairs in New Zealand.
